Leadership Awards

Barry Hendry Memorial Award

In recognition of Barry Hendry, former BASC director, local journalist and active community member a annual memorial awarded on recommendation of the teachers at the North Hastings High School to a student who:

demonstrated community spirt
“gave a voice to those who had none” (student who displayed compassion and empathy for underrepresented people in the community/world)
worked to make the school/community a better place (student council or student voice)
showed strong, clear writing skills

Rod Malloy Memorial Award

Rod Malloy was a founding member and long-time Chair of the Council who believed in investing in youth in our community. This bursary award was renamed in his honour and is presented annual to recognize the hard work and dedication of the top students in each of the NOS and NERDS programs at North Hastings High School. Congratulations to all past recipients!
